Good news… Who wants to eat chocolate?!!

Who doesn’t like chocolate? We all want to hear that chocolate is good for us, yes?

Dark chocolate can enhance your mood, but it actually has way more benefits than just that. Consumption of dark chocolate can improve blood flow and cognition in the short term, but also new studies have shown possible positive effects of dark chocolate on visual performance.

Scientist asked the question “How does consumption of milk vs dark chocolate affect visual acuity or contrast sensitivity within two hours of consumption?”. They conducted a clinical trial of 30 adults, and small enhancements in visual acuity and large-letter contrast sensitivity, as well as a slightly larger improvement in small-letter contrast sensitivity were discovered after consumption of dark chocolate compared with milk chocolate. This is possibly owing to increased blood flow, although the real cause of these slight improvements is not yet conclusive.

Several studies suggest that dark chocolate from flavanol rich cacao beans, with their antioxidant effects, may enhance blood flow to the central and peripheral nervous systems, improve cardiovascular function, and slow down or even partially reverse memory loss and other signs and symptoms of degenerative diseases, including Alzheimer and Parkinson diseases.

When you consume dark chocolate just be sure to eat only one portion size a day. And I suggest you buy the highest quality available (normally that’s the most expensive one), and to eat slowly and really enjoy all the benefits!
